Job Description: Adelante’s Physical Education Teacher is dedicated to guiding scholars toward becoming healthy and active adolescents and adults. This role involves delivering a dynamic curriculum that emphasizes physical activity, nutritional awareness, sportsmanship, teamwork, and classroom engagement. Our program leverages the school's gymnasium and athletic field, offering scholars a diverse array of sports and activities to participate in. Recognizing the importance of resources in teaching excellence, we ensure that all materials mentioned in our curriculum are provided, enabling you to focus on what you do best: teaching. Furthermore, the Physical Education Teacher plays a crucial role in enhancing the school’s academic environment.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Implement curricula and activities that meet Indiana physical education standards.
- Conduct assessments to gauge progress toward physical education standards.
- Utilize assessment data to refine the curriculum and inform teaching strategies.
- Apply consistent rewards and/or consequences to ensure scholars adhere to the school's core values, expectations, and conduct code.
- Be accountable for scholars’ mastery of physical education standards.
- Contribute to grade-level and school-wide activities.
- Maintain clear and effective communication with scholars, families, and colleagues.
- Engage actively in team meetings, including participating in an annual summer staff orientation and training.
- Supervise scholars during classes, breaks, meals, specials, and transitions to ensure a productive learning environment and their safety.
- Attend and engage in school events outside regular hours (e.g., family nights, scholar performances, field trips, report card nights, and Teacher-Family Conferences).
- Uphold and promote Adelante’s core values and educational philosophy.
- Manage and maintain the school’s athletic equipment and materials.
- Commit to being present and engaged at the school from 7:10 AM to 4:10 PM, Monday through Friday, with flexible work times available from 2:30-4:10 PM.
- Fulfill other duties as assigned.

- Outstanding emotional intelligence, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong technical and organizational skills.

- Deeply rooted belief that children are capable of reaching the highest bars we set for them
- Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree is preferred
- Valid Indiana State certification or proof of reciprocal licensure in a different state is required. Applicants in Indiana State-approved alternate certification programs must provide proof of enrollment.
