Job Description:

Adelante’s Visual Arts Teacher is committed to nurturing the creative growth of scholars, fostering an appreciation for the arts that will serve them well into their adolescence and adulthood. This role involves developing an engaging curriculum aligned with Indiana Visual Arts standards that highlights the exploration of various artistic mediums, art history, the principles of design, and creative expression. Our program makes use of the school's art studio and available technology, offering scholars a rich palette of artistic activities and projects to engage in. Understanding the significance of resources in achieving teaching excellence, we ensure that all materials specified in the curriculum are provided, allowing you to concentrate on your primary passion: teaching. Moreover, the Visual Arts Teacher plays an essential role in enriching the school’s academic atmosphere by integrating the arts into the broader educational experience.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Implement curricula and activities that meet Indiana Visual Arts standards.
• Conduct assessments to gauge progress toward physical education standards.
• Utilize assessment data to refine the curriculum and inform teaching strategies.
• Apply consistent rewards and/or consequences to ensure scholars adhere to the school's core values, expectations, and conduct code.
• Be accountable for scholars’ mastery of Visual Arts standards.
• Contribute to grade-level and school-wide activities.
• Maintain clear and effective communication with scholars, families, and colleagues.
• Engage actively in team meetings, including participating in an annual summer staff orientation and training.
• Supervise scholars during classes, breaks, meals, specials, and transitions to ensure a productive learning environment and their safety.
• Attend and engage in school events outside regular hours (e.g., family nights, scholar performances, field trips, report card nights, and Teacher-Family Conferences).
• Uphold and promote Adelante’s core values and educational philosophy.
• Manage and maintain the school’s art equipment and materials.
• Commit to being present and engaged at the school from 7:10 AM to 4:10 PM, Monday through Friday, with flexible work times available from 2:30-4:10 PM.
• Fulfill other duties as assigned.

• Outstanding emotional intelligence, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong technical and organizational skills.
• Eagerness for constant observation and feedback
• Deeply rooted belief that children are capable of reaching the highest bars we set for them
• Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree is preferred
• Valid Indiana State certification or proof of reciprocal licensure in a different state is required. Applicants in Indiana State-approved alternate certification programs must provide proof of enrollment.
