What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Support Supervisor position at Adelbrook Inc?
JOB SUMMARY: The 2nd Shift Program Support Supervisor (PSS) has primary responsibility for shift supervision, crisis intervention using Physical & Psychological Management Training techniques, and overall maintenance of a healthy, therapeutic milieu in all Residential Houses. The PSS increases interaction and communication between Residential and Learning Center staff and reinforces the Positive Behavioral Support (PBS) system across both programs. This position may involve the use of physical restraints (using Physical & Psychological Management Training). This is a full time, non-exempt position that reports directly to the Residential Program Coordinator.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serves as Shift Supervisor on each of the five (eight-hour) shifts worked. Provides direction and guidance to Behavioral Technicians and youth in times of crisis. Serves as administration when the Program Coordinator and Director of Programs are not in the building.
- Provides support to all Residential Houses for vacancies, breaks, call-outs, vacations, illnesses, and other unforeseen events.
- Serves as a role model and on-the-job trainer for staff.
- Provides one-to-one aide and hospital emergency room coverage, when necessary.
- Possesses knowledge and understanding of all residents’ behavior plans and ensures they are implemented, particularly through creation and maintenance of therapeutic relationships between youth and staff.
- Participates with Behavioral Technicians, the Recreation Therapist, Occupational Therapist, COTA’s and Adaptive Physical Educator in different events, activities and agency programs for the residents.
- Coordinates transportation of residents to off-grounds activities, medical appointments and hospital, when necessary.
- Maintains staff contact information, Cross Systems Crisis Prevention & Intervention logs, and current treatment information logs located in the Shift Supervisors’ office.
- Adheres to the Policies and Procedures of the agency. Makes sure all Behavioral Technicians are following these policies and procedures.
- Works off of the residential houses and only uses the Supervisors office when completing paperwork. Will transition between houses on an hourly basis.
- Collect data sheets and medical documents by the end of each shift.
- Performs other duties as requested by the Residential Program Coordinator.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
BA/BS degree in a human services field or an AS degree and equivalent experience in a residential treatment facility is required; extensive experience and training at Adelbrook may be substituted for the academic degree. Training in Physical & Psychological Management Training (PMT), Autism Training Solutions, Risking Connection, CPR, First Aid and DCF Medication Administration are required (may be post-hire). An interest in and willingness to become a certified Trainer for Physical & Psychological Management Training, within one year of job acceptance is requisite. Two years of experience working with emotionally disturbed, behaviorally disordered children, and preferably in a residential facility are required. Some knowledge of the behaviors of youth who have Autism Spectrum Disorders is required and may be obtained post-hire. Must have leadership abilities, a positive attitude, sound judgment, and the ability to establish rapport with residents and other employees with diverse educational, economic, ethnic and religious backgrounds. Must maintain a valid driver’s license and be eligible for coverage under the agency’s insurance carrier.
