North Central Fabrication- Shop Laborer
Summary:
Fabrication shop laborers perform a variety of daily tasks. Shop laborers may assist a fabricator or painter with shipping and receiving or any other task that is assigned from the direct supervisor.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Operates, maintains and cares for construction equipment and machines
- Assists fabricators and other skilled laborers when necessary
- Will prime prepare and prime paint material when necessary
- Assists with shipping of finished goods and receiving of raw materials
- Prepares materials for fabrication and painting
- Assembles and takes apart temporary fixtures and jigs
- Ready to learn from on-the-job training
- Performs shop and yard clean up
- Finishes products by cleaning, polishing, filing, wire wheeling, scotch bright, or by applying protective or decorative coatings
- Performs routine inspections on assigned equipment and notifies supervisor of defects or needed repairs
- Adheres to the company’s safety policies to create a safe work environment Other duties as assigned

Desired Qualifications/Skills:
- High School diploma or GED required
- Sufficient education or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training that provides the desired knowledge, skills, and characteristics to perform duties of the role
- Ability to perform physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks for extended periods of time
- Must obtain the company provided necessary training and certification prior to operating any equipment
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to work independently with little direction when applicable
- Ability to perform on a regular basis in conditions consisting of wet, hot, humid, and/or freezing temperatures, also contending with dirt and dust
- Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
- Must have a good work ethic, and the ability to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions, specifically tasks given by supervisor
- Ability to use equipment and tools in a safe and efficient manner
- Excellent communication skills
