Position Summary: The Radiation Therapist accurately delivers the prescribed, planned course of radiation and procures verification images, as applicable. The Staff Radiation Therapist monitors and supports patients for reactions and unusual events and observes radiation safety measures for all patients and staff. The individual collaborates with the Radiation Oncologist, the manager, and the staff in developing, implementing, and evaluating department policies and procedures and participates in weekly “chart rounds” meetings. The therapist also performs CT simulations, obtaining necessary information for treatment planning, documenting all setup information, and explaining to the patient what to expect during the course of treatment. The therapist must be familiar with dosimetry and treatment plans and is responsible for doing patient chart checks to ensure accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and prevent mistakes related to patient treatment plan. This position has direct patient care, access to confidential patient information, and makes decisions independently and in collaboration with the Radiation Oncologist, manager, and the staff.
Required Educational Degree: Associate of Applied Science, graduate of an accredited program in Radiation Therapy.
Required Certifications, Credentials and Licenses: Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiation Therapy, current Ohio Department of Health License. BLS - Basic life Support
