Key Function
To develop, implement and maintain an ISO certified internal Metrology System for the Adient Winchester plant. Certification to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 must be maintained to satisfy IATF and Customer Specific requirements. This position will be the primary liaison between Adient Winchester and internal customers / suppliers on metrology and calibration services.
The Quality Calibration Engineer and all team members have the right and responsibility to shut down the line in the event of a safety or quality issue.
Special Duties
Develop and maintain all documents related to the Metrology System. This includes procedures, work instructions, and forms that are compliant with ISO/IEC requirements. Adient BOS documentation procedure will be used to manage and implement controlled document changes. Responsible for scheduling and notification to internal Adient customers of upcoming calibration due dates. Provide training to all pertinent personnel on calibration techniques and requirements, including recording and reporting of calibration results. Record and track all training progressions. Perform calibration and repair services for all internal customer IMTE as required. Prepare documentation for return shipments to internal customers and coordinate with LTL carrier. Initiate continual improvement projects as necessary to improve quality and reliability of the Metrology System. Maintain internal customer contacts and communicate information to pertinent personnel. Track and communicate all non-conforming calibration results to Winchester leadership and internal customers as needed. Participate in Winchester internal audits, including 5S, LPA, and Product Audits. Participate and take lead position during ISO/IEC 17025:2017 certification and surveillance audits. Conducts problem investigations and coordinate corrective action as issues arise. Devise controls to manage follow up and to prevent problem recurrence. Analyze calibration operations performance metrics and communicate inputs / outputs during Management Review. Participate in the evaluation and selection of employees applying for open positions in the calibration process. Assist Quality department with processing of incoming materials for part validation / inspection standard creation. Participate in equipment transfers to the Winchester plant (equipment setup, validation, work instructions, etc.) Review technical publications to determine possible application of new methods, techniques and equipment for the Metrology System. Perform all additional duties as assigned. Utilize methods for continuous improvement of all Winchester plant operations. Safety Duties:
Participate in workplace safety and health meetings.
Always utilize required PPE when performing tasks.
Providing leadership in developing measures and practices that that prevent accidents and remove unsafe conditions. Including to continuously monitor the workplace for hazardous safety and health violations.
Ensure safety and health hazards are corrected, eliminated or guarded.
Assisting with the investigation of accidents as required.
Having the authority to: Stop and prevent unsafe actions; stop the use of unsafe equipment and tools, stop work and/or have employees leave a work area.
Ensure that all witnessed incidents are reported in a timely manner.
Participate in the COACH Safety Program by submitting a minimum of 1 safety observation per month.
