looking for someone with experience supporting a high-tech engineering team, specifically able to build computer systems and test them, perform general and assist engineers with debug, general lab management, PCBA rework.
The Role:
Looking for an experienced Engineering Lab Technician for the Embedded Processor Architecture, Engineering, and Solutions (EPAES) team. EPAES Operations includes: OpEx and CapEx planning and attainment, long-range and annual operational planning, inventory management, hardware planning and management, lab management and support, building test reference systems, inventory management, and shipping/receiving.
This is an individual contributor role that requires excellent organization skills, ability to pay attention to details, and ability to lift 50-pounds, as well as having great interpersonal skills. This position reports into the Director of Operations and is in Austin TX.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform system (computer) builds, installing newest BIOS and drivers, and installing Operating System, Windows & Linux
- Managing system build request process, Jira
- Performing debug on non-functional systems
- Perform PCBA rework and/or work with other teams to complete rework
- Perform general overall lab management
- Keep lab equipment calibrated
- Work with others to place hardware orders
- Order general lab supplies and components
- Generating monthly reports
- Analyzing and improving processes they own
Preferred Experience:
- Experience assembling computer systems from scratch
- Experience installing complete computer software stack, including updating BIOS, installing drivers, installing patches, etc
- Experience loading both Windows and Linux, Ubuntu & Yocto, Operating Systems
- Experience performing general debug
- Experience soldering
- Degree from Technical Institute
- Excellent skills of managing up with right set of data/reports to executives for visibility and decision making.
- Ability to align, resolve conflicts and build consensus among parties working towards the final goal.
- High sense of urgency, discipline and drive for results.
- Relentless focus on operational excellence.
Career/Academic Credentials:
- 5 years’ experience building computer systems and working in an engineering lab environment.

Pay: $34.00 - $40.00 per hour
