Qualifications:
OPERATOR - WATER/WASTEWATER TREATMENT FACILITYMust possess a State of Florida Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator's License – Class CHigh school diploma or GED equivalentPass background and drug screenAfter probationary period, employment offers opportunity for family members to attend The Villages Charter School.
Responsibilities:
Performs a variety of semi-skilled technical and maintenance work in the operation, maintenance, and repair of the wastewater treatment plant facilities and systemsWorks under the general supervision of the Lead Wastewater Operator and/or the Wastewater ManagerMonitors and adjusts the performance of all equipment, gauges and charts in the wastewater treatment plant; records statistical data concerning plant operations; maintains, operates, repairs and replaces equipment as necessary; charts lab test results for trend analysis and maintains accurate records of analysis and test results; evaluates data and writes reports as requiredRepairs gages, pumps, filters and other controls and equipmentCollects all samples and identifies concentrations of chemical, physical or biological characteristics of water required in accordance with local, state and Federal requirementsGathers and tests water samples for plant efficiency as requiredMonitors water quality and checks turbidity, chlorine and fluoride levelsPerforms quality control tests on lab equipment and lab analyses; evaluates procedures and results for accuracy and determines appropriate methodsAssures that plant operates within required standards and all routine equipment adjustments as necessaryTrains (as needed) lesser skilled wastewater treatment plant operators for plant operational procedures, sampling and maintenance operationsCalibrates, modifies or repairs all instrumentation and control equipment including but not limited to chart recorders, chlorination equipment, high service pumps, well pumps, SCADA controls, ground storage tanks, elevated storage tanks, buildings and structuresAbides by Safety Program
