Duties / Responsibilities:
The office is seeking a trained law enforcement professional with experience in personal security to fill a position within the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation. The position offers a unique and challenging experience for a highly motivated person. The selected candidate will be assigned to work as a general investigator in our BCI Division and assigned as the primary protective detail for the Attorney General. Primary duties include the following:
- Provide physical protection to the Attorney General during daily activities, travel, and events, maintaining a low-profile and discreet presence.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments of locations, events, and travel routes, identifying potential vulnerabilities and threats.
- Develop and implement comprehensive security plans, coordinating with other security personnel and law enforcement as needed.
- Detect and identify potential surveillance activities.
- Plan and execute secure travel arrangements including transportation, accommodation, and route planning.
- Respond promptly and effectively to security incidents, emergencies, or potential threats.
- Stay informed about potential security risks and developments utilizing open-source intelligence and other sources.
- Assist with general investigative duties as directed.
The candidate may also be responsible for making arrests independently or in conjunction with local, state or federal law enforcement agencies; testifying in criminal and civil proceedings; applying for and executing search and arrest warrants; and other duties as needed.
Education/Experience/Special Requirements:
The minimum qualifications for this position include the following:
Successful completion of the basic course of instruction for police officers at the Providence police training academy, the Rhode Island municipal police training academy, or the Rhode Island state police training academy, has at least three (3) years of active law enforcement experience, or has served as a member of the United States Marshal’s Service or as a special agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, a criminal law enforcement agency of the United States Department of Justice, the United States Department of State, the United States Department of Treasury or the United States Postal Inspection Service has at least three (3) years of active law enforcement experience, or has been certified as a police officer by the duly-constituted state commission on police officer standards and training of another state, has at least three (3) years of active law enforcement experience.
Additionally, the preferred candidate should possess:
- Experience and/or training in protective intelligence, physical security, emergency response, as well as security protocol implementation
- Experience/training in medical emergencies, defensive tactics, evasive defensive driver training, less lethal weapons and tactical firearms
- Estate security experience/training, including a working knowledge of the integration of residential alarm and surveillance systems and access control
- CPR, AED, and Basic First Aid Certification
- A state of physical fitness commensurate with the position
Additionally, the selected candidate must be able to pass our pre-employment background investigation.
Schedule:
The candidate’s schedule will be varied based on the Attorney General’s schedule. The AG attends meetings/functions during the day, night, weekends, and holidays, so the candidate is expected to attend those as well.
The role will be at least 35 hours per week, likely more, including OT as needed.

Pay: $35.00 - $38.00 per hour
