Description
The Adirondack Experience (ADKX) in Blue Mountain Lake is one of upstate New York's major cultural institutions and is nestled right in the heart of the Adirondacks. Offering four seasons of outdoor recreation, surrounded by serene landscape, and cozy small towns, the ADKX offers something for everyone who enjoys the serenity of the Adirondack Park. The ADKX is a seasonal museum open from Memorial Day weekend through Indigenous People's Day.
The Adirondack Experience is looking for a friendly and energetic individual for our seasonal Admissions Assistant position. The Admissions Assistant will act as a brand ambassador for the Adirondack Experience. They will provide information to visitors, both in person and on the campus main phone line. The person in this position is the "voice" of the ADKX and will respond to all phone calls and visitor questions in an informed, cheerful, and professional manner, leaving a positive impression. This person must be knowledgeable about ADKX hours, admission fees, exhibitions, programs, events, and other operations; able to direct callers to the appropriate staff extension when necessary; encourage people to visit and / or come back; and have knowledge of the area's recreational, lodging, dining, and other offerings. Hours for position are typically 9 : 30 - 5pm. We have one full-time position available as well as part-time positions. Starting rate of pay is $16-$17 / hr.
Primary responsibilities include :
- Engage and greet visitors as they enter the Visitor Center
- Inform them about new exhibits and new outdoor experience at Minnow Pond
- Assist with addressing visitor concerns and or complaints, such as dogs in cars, locked keys
- Inform guests of our service dog policy
- Sell admissions tickets
- Greet and welcome all tour groups as necessary, board buses and provide quick orientation
- Ensure visitor brochures, racks and general visitor center areas are tidy and presentable
- Assist membership desk as needed - and where possible
- Check in and check out Lake View Café only customers
