What are the responsibilities and job description for the Invasive Species Research Assistant position at Adirondack Research?
Term: Seasonal, temporary employment (mid-June through August or early September)
Job Description: Seeking up to four qualified individuals to work as part of a team conducting research-grade surveys of aquatic native and invasive plants. This research is part of a project to map the distribution of aquatic invasive species across the state. Surveys will be performed by boat (motor boat and canoe) at lakes and rivers in New York State. This position is based out of Saranac Lake, NY, but the team will be in the field 3-4 days each week. Camping Monday through Thursday is required for distant survey locations for the entire season (about four-five weeks of the summer). Most weeks we will be surveying in the Saranac Lake area (within a 1-3 hour drive daily) where crew members can sleep at their apartments in the Saranac Lake Area.
Selected individuals will work directly with other Research Assistants, The Invasive Species Program Coordinator and Adirondack Research's Director Dr. Ezra Schwartzberg.

Must have driver’s license.
Qualifications: Experience conducting field research highly recommended, however suitable course work and practicum experience will be considered as an alternative to relevant research experience. Preference for students enrolled in Fisheries and Wildlife Science, Biology or other relevant degree programs. Applicants with plant identification skills will be preferentially considered.
