Overview

A production supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of a manufacturing production process, ensuring efficiency, quality standards are met, and production targets are achieved by managing a team of workers, monitoring production schedules, and maintaining a safe working environment; key duties include assigning tasks, troubleshooting issues, conducting quality checks, and reporting on production progress while adhering to safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Safety compliance: Enforcing safety regulations, conducting safety inspections, and promoting a safe working environment.
  • Managing production team: Overseeing and directing production workers, assigning tasks, approving time worked, ensuring established procedures are followed.
  • Employee training and development:
    • Providing training to new employees on production processes and safety procedures.
    • Conducting Performance & Development Reviews
  • Production adherence: Adhering to detailed production schedules to meet deadlines and optimize resource utilization.
  • Quality control: Monitoring production processes to ensure products meet quality standards, identifying and resolving quality issues.
  • Equipment maintenance: Ensuring proper functioning of production machinery, scheduling regular maintenance, and identifying repair needs.
  • Performance monitoring: Tracking production metrics, identifying areas for improvement, and reporting progress to management.
  • Inventory management: Monitoring inventory levels and ensuring inventory accuracy.
  • Problem-solving: Identifying and resolving production issues, including troubleshooting equipment malfunctions and addressing operational challenges.
  • Communication and collaboration: Coordinating with other departments like quality control, maintenance, warehouse and materials management.
Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Leadership and supervisory skills
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and quality control procedures
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures (food)
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting
  • Ability to stand/walk for much of the workday
