Job Summary:
The Supplier Quality Engineer will collaborate with suppliers and design engineers to ensure high-quality nonmetallic components, including injection-molded, thermoformed, blow-molded, rotomolded, rubber, and insulation parts. This role is responsible for supplier quality management from design concept through production and end-of-life, ensuring robust process controls and compliance with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) steps.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with suppliers to implement and maintain effective process controls to prevent defects.
- Ensure APQP activities are conducted, including Process FMEA, Process Control Plans, and Gage R&R studies.
- Monitor supplier adherence to Process Change Notification (PCN) requirements.
- Support new part development by validating supplier capabilities and ensuring compliance with quality standards.
- Audit supplier manufacturing processes to ensure consistency, efficiency, and adherence to specifications.
- Review and approve supplier 8D corrective action plans to resolve quality issues.
- Participate in Supplier Performance Management Reviews (SPM) and provide input on supplier quality metrics.
- Ensure PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) is completed and approved before part shipment.
- Provide technical support during supplier start-up activities.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a related role.
- Engineering or manufacturing background with knowledge of manufacturing processes.
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, leadership, and project management skills.
- Familiarity with shop operations and supplier quality management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Excel, Teams, SharePoint).
Highly Desirable:
- Quality engineering certification.
- Experience with nonmetallic components and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to use and demonstrate statistical analysis and problem-solving tools.
- Knowledge of third-party registration standards.
Work Environment & Expectations:
- Reviews and audits supplier APQP documentation and process controls.
- Validates supplier process capability and ensures quality standards are met.
- Ensures timely resolution of supplier quality issues.
- Collaborates with suppliers and internal teams to develop and implement quality improvements.
Pay Transparency:
The typical base pay for this role across the U.S. is: $ 35.00 - $ 40.00 /hr. Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education and experience and the benefits package you select. Full-time employees are eligible to select from different benefits packages.
