The Regulatory Specialist holds a pivotal role as the in-house hazards communicator and safety data sheet (SDS) author for our organization. This individual will be instrumental in developing accurate and compliant product SDS’s and hazard labels, as well as all workflow associated with product development. The Regulatory Specialist will manage the company's chemical hazard data and the software systems essential for product classification. Additionally, the role includes serving as a back-up to the Regulatory Manager.

Job Duties:
- Author SDS’s and product labels using advanced authoring and label software.
- Conduct regulatory reviews of externally authored SDS’s and labels.
- Evaluate product transportation status per DOT, IATA, and IMDG regulations to ensure accurate classification.
- Collaborate with the supply chain department to obtain and maintain up-to-date information on supplier raw materials and product composition in the Quantum system.
- Provide precise and up-to-date information to customers globally, ensuring compliance with international regulations.
- Proactively monitor and analyze regulatory changes, staying ahead of updates and assessing their impact on SDS and compliance requirements.
- Assign placards in compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Maintain current electronic copies of SDS’s in the company database.
- Demonstrate expertise in laws and regulations governing SDS authoring, hazardous chemical management, and basic knowledge of EHS & Regulatory laws.
- Set up chemical data within software programs.
- Determine Hazard Assessments based on thorough assessments.
- Submit SDS’s to Chemtrec upon creation or revision.
- Provide support to the Regulatory Manager as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Ability to proactively research pending regulations and upcoming requirements within specified time frames.

- Working Knowledge of Federal and International Regulations and Policies (EPA, GHS, REACH, etc.).
- Ability to perform hazard classification based on product composition.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in physical or biological sciences
- 2 years of prior SDS authoring experience
- Working knowledge of domestic regulations, including OSHA, DOT, EPA, REACH, and GHS
- Knowledge of chemical compounds, families, and products
- Certifications for DOT, IATA, and IMDG transportation requirements preferred
