Job Summary :
The Fleet Diesel Mechanic will perform repairs, maintenance, and inspections on a variety of diesel-powered vehicles in the company’s fleet. The mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing mechanical problems, conducting repairs, and ensuring that all vehicles meet safety and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities :
- Perform Preventative Maintenance : Conduct regular inspections and perform scheduled maintenance on fleet vehicles, including oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and fluid checks.
- Diagnose Mechanical Issues : Use diagnostic equipment to identify mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic problems with engines, transmissions, braking systems, and other vehicle components.
- Repairs and Replacements : Repair or replace defective parts, such as engines, transmissions, air brakes, and suspension systems. Ensure that parts are in good working condition and that repairs are completed promptly.
- Troubleshoot Electrical and Electronic Systems : Diagnose and repair electrical and electronic systems, including wiring, battery, and control systems.
- Record Maintenance and Repairs : Keep accurate records of all inspections, repairs, and maintenance work performed on each vehicle.
- Compliance with Safety Standards : Ensure all repairs and maintenance are done in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Coordinate with Fleet Manager : Communicate effectively with the fleet manager regarding vehicle condition, repair timelines, and parts inventory.
- Keep Work Area Clean and Organized : Maintain a clean and safe work environment, ensuring tools and equipment are in good condition.
