QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED
- Hold a paraeducator license - generalist and early childhood certificates. The candidate can be currently enrolled in, actively participating in, or demonstrating progress toward the certifications. Completion must be done within two years of employment.
- Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to work well with students, staff and parents
- Working with individual students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
- Assisting the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities.
- Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information regarding students as is expected of fully licensed teachers.
- Alerts the regular teacher to any problem or special information regarding an individual student.
- Guides each student toward making appropriate choices and accepting responsibility for their own behavior.
- Supervises students outside during recess.
