Packaging Operator - Quincy, IL
Pay Rate: $23.00/hr. $2.00 shift differential
Shift(s) Required: 3rd shift, 11pm – 7:30am, Monday - Friday
Ability to work overtime including weekends, holidays, and on occasion different shifts.

Job Summary
The Packaging Operator is responsible for bagging all finished product and loading raw materials into the system per standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the Quincy Crosswind facility.

Facility Expectation
  • Follow the expectations of all Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality standards.
  • Ensure product quality expectations are met.
  • Follow all facility Good Manufacturing Practices as required.
  • Responsible for ensuring area is kept clean and completion of all listed housekeeping duties per the master sanitation schedule.
  • Work with other Operations colleagues to effectively communicate production issues.
  • Participate in morning toolbox, shift exchange/review and response meetings to communicate your key process indicator performance.
  • Once qualified, provide mentoring and training to new colleagues.
  • Required to work overtime as specified by management.
  • Attend training classes in-plant or at other locations as assigned.

Work Duties
  • Meet or exceed KPI goals as set forth by management.
  • Utilize action register to communicate issues or concerns that need to be fixed or improved in the production area.
  • Participate in Safety Engagement activities
  • Place finished product in proper packaging as stated on the batch ticket.
  • Ensure finished product amount is accurate and report any variances to Production Supervisor (unless otherwise specified).
  • Verify the lot number, manufacture date, product code, and label.
  • Operate forklift
  • Replenish packaging materials. Ex. Pallets, stretch wrap, slip sheets, etc.
  • Operate bagging equipment, heat sealer, palletizer, bulk bag unloader.
  • Make necessary adjustments to optimize equipment performance
  • Replenish liquid totes
  • Batch oil mixture based on formula sheet
  • Fill out production paperwork and complete timely checks
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Plant Leadership.

Minimum Requirements
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
  • Strong fundamental skills (math, reading, writing and verbal communication)
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment and/or similar military environment (preferred)
  • Ability to act in a professional manner and adhere by ADM’s Code of Conduct
  • Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs.
  • Detailed oriented and self-motivated with a solid work ethic
  • Maintain excellent attendance
  • Strong safety aptitude

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Ability to move about on a work site by ascending/descending stairs, extensive walking, climbing steps or ladders, prolonged periods of standing and sitting, stooping, bending, squatting frequently, kneeling, pushing, pulling and twisting over surfaces
  • Ability to operate equipment or machinery that may be located at different heights with open view grating from multiple elevations or in confined spaces
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds overhead
  • Ability to traverse two (2) miles or more during the course of a workday
  • Ambient conditions – Work area is, typically, a non-air-conditioned production environment. Working in in extreme heat and cold in all seasonal elements, both indoors and outside on a regular basis.
  • Atmosphere: May come in contact with Dust (Peanut - known allergen), corn, cotton, canola seed, chemicals, odors, work with known allergens that might be present
  • Must be able to work around vibrating equipment and noise levels that may reach or exceed 85 decibels and will require use of hearing protection for most of the work shift
  • Employees are required to wear all company provided Personal Protective Equipment (i.e., hard-hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, face masks, gloves when required, uniforms, and steel-toed boots) in addition to job specific PPE requirements (i.e., fall protection equipment and respirators)

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

The pay for this position is expected to be:

$23.00
