Job Description
The Traffic Control Assistant is a person who will:
- Walk around the yard to direct yard traffic flows
- Constantly take photos of baled paper and loading containers
- Direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic by providing manual direction to facilitate the flow of traffic in the transloading yard.
- Set-up and remove traffic diversion devices, including; cones, signs, barricades, road flares and other related equipment.
- Issue parking warnings and citations; have cars towed and impounded, when needed; and perform required follow-up activities.
- Provide information and assist the customers with a variety of requests and inquiries. Release impounded vehicles, when appropriate.
- Follow applicable safety rules and regulations.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
This Position Requires:
- Skill in effective written and verbal communication as well as dealing diplomatically with the public and fellow employees.
- The ability to constantly walk, and use both arms and legs for extended periods of time
- Willingness to work in inclement weather
- The ability to acquire a valid California Driver's License by date of appointment.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends and holidays as assigned.
- Experience directing traffic is desirable, but not a requirement.
Additional Information
Base pay is between $18-$19/hour DOE.
