JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Substitute Teacher
Reports To: Principal/Director
Salary Range: $20.00 per hour
Schedule: Part-time/ School Year Calendar

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Follow teacher’s lesson plans and/or plan, coordinate, collaborate and execute as needed an elementary and or middle school program anchored in the Colorado State Standards, Paideia Principles, and other PSAS adopted materials including Success for All Reading Program, Six Trait 1 Writing, and Step-Up to Writing. Collaborate activities that support units of instruction including field trips, guest speakers, student exhibitions, cross-grade level/curricula instruction and community service.
The substitute teacher will direct students toward behavior that fosters a positive learning environment for all learners. Support the policies and procedures for students, parents, and staff. Substitute Teacher will be held accountable for their actions, convey a professional image, demonstrate initiative, support the mission, have a record of solid time management skills, utilize appropriate decision-making processes, seek appropriate input, demonstrate reliability and dependability, and utilize healthy solutions to resolve issues. Substitute Teacher will be asked to demonstrate professional communication, interpersonal skills, effective planning and organization skills, and effective problem-solving strategies that reflect a collaborative posture. Overall work knowledge as a K-6 educator will be demonstrated through the following topic areas: following plans and effective instruction that addresses school goals(i.e. standards and assessment, curriculum, building goals, mission statement, etc.) and the needs of diverse learners; implementation of instruction that is effective and actively engages students in the learning process; development and maintenance of a learning environment that promotes student well-being; consistently displays effective relations with members of the learning community, and represents and upholds the characteristics of an educational professional. Finally, the teacher will uphold the promises and commitments of the Paideia model by way of their active involvement in life-long learning through setting professional goals and demonstrating completion of those goals and seeking professional development.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Required:
- Background check
- High school diploma/GED
Preferred:
- BA degree
- Colorado Teaching License or Substitute License;
- Previous experience teaching at the K-8 level;
- Demonstrated technology proficiencies in the use of Microsoft Office, Internet, Simple Webpage building, Electronic Gradebook, and Email;
- Demonstrated ability to work on a team and create instructional units;
- Demonstrated implementation and use of instructional strategies to promote student engagement
