Summary
Under the supervision of the Superintendent, the Director of Technology is responsible for leading the strategic development and implementation of a technology program that continues to innovate and elevate the district’s technological landscape.

Receives general supervision from higher-level staff. Exercises supervision of lower-level staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Management reserves the right to add, modify, change, or rescind the work assignments of different positions and to make reasonable accommodations so that qualified employees can perform the essential functions of the job.
- Establish and assess competencies and skill-level requirements for all technology personnel.
- Develop a comprehensive staff development program designed to upgrade and improve all technology personnel skill levels.
- Working with the technology consultant and the bond coordinator, become knowledgeable regarding existing and planned technology systems and application throughout the district.
- Working with the Directors of Elementary and Secondary Education, design comprehensive staff development program to upgrade and improve all instructional personnel skill levels.
- Working with the Director of Business Services, design a comprehensive staff development program to upgrade and improve all central and building level office personnel skill levels.
- Plan and administer the budget for technology services.
- Establish and maintain a plan for the cycling of computers throughout the district to match the instructional needs of the various levels of students.
- Establish and maintain a repair system, which minimizes downtime and maximizes the use of district technology personnel.
- Hire and evaluate all technology help, whether contracted services or employees for needed maintenance equipment.
- Provide oversight regarding employee maintenance of the district’s web page.
- Monitor the district’s wide area network and consultants responsible for its establishment and maintenance.
- Train and assist media paraprofessionals in the monitoring and maintenance of the district’s local area network.
- Working with the Superintendent to develop a vision of technology’s future in the Anchor Bay School District.

- Other related duties assigned as necessary.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in information technology or a related discipline.
- Professional experience in technology integration within an educational district setting.
Knowledge of:
- Advanced knowledge of technology applications within an educational district setting.
- Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations regarding technology and operation in a school district.
- Advanced knowledge of relevant technology systems utilized by Anchor Bay School District to facilitate repairs when required.
- Knowledge of methods of designing and implementing strategic programs to enhance the efficiency of the technology department.
Ability to:
- Effectively manage concurrent tasks and adhere to demanding time constraints.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with staff.
- Effectively utilize personal computer skills to efficiently update pertinent information within the Technology Department.
- Formulate strategic plans that align with relevant objectives for future success of the Anchor Bay Schools technology department.
- Speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication.

Program activities may require sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping, and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties; the ability to lift, carry and push tools, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds or heavier weights with assistance and/or the use of proper equipment.
Environmental Elements
Incumbents work in both indoor and outdoor environments with moderate to loud noise levels. May work in controlled temperature conditions, cold and hot temperatures, or inclement weather conditions. May be exposed to communicable illnesses, blood, and body fluids. Incumbents will interact with individuals in interpreting and enforcing rules, policies, and procedures.
Working Conditions
Incumbents may be assigned an on-call and irregular work schedule, including weekends, early mornings, and evenings.
