CTE - Career Development Coordinator Innovation High School (CDC)
QUALIFICATIONS
Licensed in Career and Technical Education program area or a master’s degree in school counseling.
One or more of the following:
· One year of industry-related career development work experience in business, industry, or labor within the past five years
· One year as a coordinator of work-based learning (job-shadowing, internships, cooperative education, apprenticeships) in a Career and Technical Education program within the past five years
· One year as a Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) adviser within the past five years or
· One year work experience in school counseling or as a Career Development Coordinator
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of the Career Development Facilitator course available through the NC Workforce Development Training Center (in cooperation with NC DPI)
Two years of previous Career Development Coordinator Experience
Working knowledge of CCP courses
Proven track record in Career and Technical Education

SUMMARY
The Career Development Coordinator's (CDC) role is to support Career and Technical Education (CTE) and to coordinate career development services for students participating in CTE Innovative High School. The CDC works collaboratively with administrators, student services personnel, and teachers to ensure the delivery of career development services. CDCs facilitate linkages with parents, business/industry, postsecondary institutions, Rockingham Community College and community organizations to support students’ transition to postsecondary education and employment. The CDC's responsibilities incorporate the North Carolina Standard Course of Study, National Career Development Guidelines, the National Model for School Counseling Programs, and Future-Ready Students for the 21st Century. Specific Career Development Coordinator responsibilities are outlined as follows.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Career Development
- Coordinate career development services.
- Work with students to revise their Career Development Plan yearly.
- Work with Middle School Career Development Coordinator and CTE Director to promote student career awareness on opportunities available at the CTE Innovative High School
- Promote CTE Innovative High School to middle school students
- Promote career awareness, exploration, and planning to include but not limited to earning industry standard credentials, CCP certificates and/or.an associates degree
- Provide career development, occupational, labor market, non-traditional career, and postsecondary information to students and all stakeholders
Preparatory Services
- Assists students with selection of appropriate academic and CTE and CCP courses that align with their Career Development Plan.
- Coordinate career planning activities in classroom, groups, or individual sessions.
- Provide and coordinate administration and interpretation of career assessments.
- Provide information on postsecondary education programs and employment opportunities.
- Assist students with postsecondary education and employment opportunities.
Transition Services
- Facilitate and coordinate work-based learning opportunities
- Provide and coordinate activities for students to develop employability skills.
- Promote the integration of career research and work-based learning opportunities into CTE and academic courses.
- Promote the use of technology for career planning and research.
Partnership
- Facilitate business, education, and community partnerships that provide opportunities for students and support CTE
- Work with community partners to develop internships, apprenticeship and cooperative learning opportunities
- Serve as a liaison with the business, industry, education, and military community.
- Publicize partnership resources.
Professional Development
- Participate in professional development activities at the local, regional, state, and national levels.
- Engage in professional growth opportunities to remain current with trends, demands, and emerging careers in a rapidly changing workforce.
- Position may include other duties as assigned by the Director of Career and Technical Education.
