Kinship Family Support Specialist (Full Time and Part Time Positions):

The Kinship Caregiver Support Specialist provides case management for the Kinship Caregiver Support Program, a comprehensive program designed to be responsive to the needs of kinship families. The Kinship Caregiver Support Program is family-centered and directed, offering a blend of services including case management, advocacy, training, crisis management, support services, and youth programming, as well as in-house referral for free therapeutic services.

FOR FULL TIME: This is a 40-hour-per-week position that requires some evening and weekend hours as needed to serve kinship families, parents, and youth. The Kinship Family Support Specialist reports to the Mental Health Program Director.

FOR PART TIME: This is a 20-hour-per-week position that requires some evening and weekend hours as needed to serve kinship families, parents, and youth. The Kinship Family Support Specialist reports to the Mental Health Program Director.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  •  Coordinate and provide care that is safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable, client-centered, and compassionate by giving families a voice through support, information, and advocacy.
  •  Help families achieve wellness, build skills, and obtain resources that will ultimately allow them to autonomously manage their family’s challenges.
  •  Assist in trainings, such as Reframing Parenting.
  •  Assist with the planning and execution of in-person and virtual caregiver support groups, family engagement, and respite outings that are accessible to the Kinship Caregiver Support Program.
  •  Attend weekly virtual case conference meetings and all staff meetings.
  •  Conduct monthly in-person face-to-face meetings with each assigned kinship family.
  •  Attend a quarterly Kinship Family Support Specialist team meeting at your regional Coalition office.
  •  Adhere to professional standards as outlined by protocols, rules, and regulations.
  •  Flexible remote hours. Candidate must be able to work independently.
  •  Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: A bachelor’s level degree in social work, psychology, or human services; or a bachelor’s level degree in any field with at least two years of case management experience; or an associate’s level degree in psychology or human services with at least two years of case management experience. Demonstrated success in working with kinship families is required and relative caregivers or kinship care alums are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates with knowledge of regional social services and the educational community will be especially well prepared for this position and experience in case management is valuable. A team-focused approach and a commitment to the organization’s mission, goals, and standards are required. The position requires a valid Driver’s license or other form of State identification.

The salary for the full-time position is $50,000. Please submit a brief cover letter and resume.
