Position Title: Director of Institutional Research & Assessment
Work Schedule: Twelve-month appointment, full-time; Monday – Friday, some evening and weekend work required
Example of Duties:
The Director of Institutional Research supports the Office of Academic Affairs and the College by providing accurate, timely, and reliable institutional data and analysis related to academic and operational activities. Under the direct supervision of the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
- Act as the School Certifying Officer for Veterans Affairs (involves training and continuing education hours yearly in addition to certification responsibilities and student support)
- Coordinating data collection for government agencies and accreditors as required by law and as mandated for accreditation (Examples: IPEDS, HLC, NCAA, FTV, MICU, etc.)
- Coordinating data collection for other external agencies to which the college belongs or deems appropriate (Example: College Board)
- Coordinating data collection for public reference, such as college guide and rankings surveys, and for specialized reference as the college deems appropriate (Examples: US News Best Colleges Report, Chronicle Great Colleges to Work for Survey, AAUP Faculty Salary Survey)
- Coordinating data collection about Adrian College (Examples: NSSE, CIRP)
- Fielding requests for specialized research, data, and analysis from the President, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, the Dean of Graduate Studies, and other administrators
- Fielding requests for specialized institutional data from other college and non-college officials, as necessary
- Maintaining institutional data
- Oversees the creation and analysis of surveys for internal data gathering and assessment
- Participating in academic governance
- Collect and provide feedback on assessment of Capstone Reports and Annual Program Review Reports
- Interfacing with academic and administrative divisions as necessary for the completion of the above duties
- Preparing data and reports for presentation to the Board of Trustees
- Serve on academic committees as assigned
- Plan and organize the Honors Night Ceremony
- Help with campus events such as Commencement and Convocation
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
- Master’s degree preferred or equivalent experience
- Experience with IPEDS and other reporting required by external stakeholders
- Experience with academic and institutional assessment
- Knowledge of higher education accreditation, preferably the Higher Learning Commission
- Familiarity with research and analysis
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with a student information system such as Blackbaud, Banner or Datatel
- Ability to work with both administrators and faculty
- Professionalism, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- General knowledge of Adrian College academic policies and procedures
