Position Title: Infant/Toddler Assistant Teacher
Full-time/Part-time – Hourly Position
Duties (examples; not an all-inclusive list below):
This position involves caring for children ages birth-3 years old in accordance with state licensing and credentialing requirements. The successful candidate will:
- Provide quality child care in a classroom learning environment
- Develop and foster strong relationships with children and families
- Assist lead teacher in efficiently maintaining classroom management
- Organize and lead activities designed to promote physical, cognitive, and social development
- Observe and evaluate children’s development and behavior
- Enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order
- Maintain licensing and professional conduct standards consistent with the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and State of Michigan regulations
- Other duties/responsibilities to be determined and assigned by the Director/Lead Teacher
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- One year of experience in providing childcare and program development in the State of Michigan
- Infant/Child/Adult First Aid and CPR Certification
- Must be able to perform duties within the normal bounds of a classroom environment including interacting and playing with children for the majority of the day.
- The successful candidate is required by the State of Michigan licensing to be cleared through the CCBC (Child Care Background Check) program.
Desired Qualifications:
Education with a focus on Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field is preferred as is a Bachelor’s Degree; previous experience in a licensed child care center is also preferred. Preference will be given to individuals with an Early Childhood ZS (General and Special Education) endorsement certification. The successful candidate will show initiative and will be organized, punctual, and have demonstrated the ability to work independently and as an effective team member.
