Controls Engineer

ARI is seeking a Controls Engineer to oversee the refinement and integration of our automated controls systems. The ideal candidate has a background in electrical engineering and uses PLC programming products, primarily those made by Rockwell Automation / Allen Bradley. You also will need to know how to read P&IDs and wiring diagrams.
Duties & Responsibilities :
- Develop and document new PLC control and monitoring systems from concept to qualification while conforming to applicable standards.
- Maintain configuration / version control of PLC source code.
- Design, install, maintain, and modify PLC systems.
- Troubleshoot problems and eliminate control systems issues with current and future PLC control systems.
- Understand process control issues and develop control solutions with the engineering team to enhance process performance.
- Conduct prestart-up equipment tests (e.g., factory acceptance tests and site acceptance tests) to validate installation.
- Interface with equipment vendors, contractors, and customers to troubleshoot and resolve start-up issues safely.
- Extend start-up support and training for control and monitoring systems.
- Respond to downtime events impacting production, when requested by a customer by supporting plant operators.
- Reduce repeat downtime issues on systems and assist operators with troubleshooting equipment issues.
- Design electrical control systems
- Possess good troubleshooting skills for electrical and electronic problems related to instrumentation, valves, 120VAC, 24VDC, and ethernet networks.
- Understand and be able to troubleshoot AC / DC drives and motors
- Understand and be able to work with relays, contacts, transformers, motor starters, sensors, switches, etc.
- Create and / or review process P&ID and / or electrical P&ID drawings.
- Promote integrity, respect, accountability, continuous improvement, and positive interactions with all Team Members, customers & vendors.
- Assist in the start-up of innovative technology
- Contribute to cost savings ideas and efforts
- Analyze new designs supplied by the team
- Performs tasks or responsibilities as assigned by Management
- Domestic and / or international travel may be required
