Job Summary:
The Front Room Assistant Manager oversees the visual presentation of the sales floor, ensuring an outstanding customer experience through efficient cashier operations and by managing students and staff on the sales floor.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
This position requires specific responsibilities for:
- Planning, development, implementation, and administration of the store retail sales segment.
- Provide customer service by greeting customers, responding to customer inquiries, and managing complaints.
- Maintains an organized sales floor by cleaning and organizing shelves, displays, and all other items on the sales floor.
- Accountable for the rotation of inventory on the sales floor.
- Collaborates with the Back Room Assistant Manager to ensure that all items are accurately priced.
- Verifies that the item count on the cart matches the production count provided by the backroom associate.
- Responsible for ensuring the accuracy of daily closing procedures, including researching overages and shortages.
- Maintains a clean exterior at the front of the store at all times, including windows, shopping carts, landscaping.
- Ensures that the company’s safety policies, programs, and procedures are followed on the sales floor by all employees and students.
- Accountable for documenting and reporting all accidents involving students, employees, and customers in accordance with company guidelines.
- Have the knowledge and training to oversee the operations of the store in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Notifies the Store Manager of any customer complaints and concerns related to employees or students.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Preparation of statistical data reports as required.
- Participating with other store managers formulating and effecting management policy and procedure.
- Overseeing management, staff, interns, student, and volunteer participation in store retail sales daily work experience assignments.
While performing this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, handle or lift objects, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, and kneel. Most activities involve repetitive upper-body movement and bending. The employee must, on occasion, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. This is a “hands-on” leadership position.
This position is determined to be a ministry staff position by role and function. Duties will include when necessary or directed: Leading prayer and Bible studies, discipling students, and others, conducting evangelistic or humanitarian outreaches, and teaching religious or non-religious instruction.
Supervision Received:
- The employee will work under the direct supervision of the Store Manager who determines goals, assigns work, and reviews performance for overall effectiveness through reports, observation, business evaluations and conferences.
- The employee works indirectly under the supervision of the Division Lead of Business Development who establishes the direction and processes that are executed throughout the Business Development Team (BDT)
- The employee shall exercise a high degree of independent decision making and judgment in relation to scope of duties and responsibilities.
Supervision Exercised:
- The employee exercises supervision of the store retail sales component and other areas of designated responsibility. This may include participation in the selection of new personnel, training, performance evaluation, responding to grievances and disciplinary problems.
- The supervision of staff, volunteers, interns, and students is a regular responsibility of this position.
- The employee may delegate to members of their leadership team levels of supervision over these areas.
General Statement of Duties and Responsibilities:
1. A thorough working knowledge of all program policies and procedures relative to assigned scope of duties and responsibilities included in the ATCPNW “Staff Policies and Procedures Manual”, “Crisis Manual”, and the “Student Manual.”
2. Possess good standards of personal hygiene and a neat clean appearance including prescribed standards for hair and dress.
3. Acts as primary liaison for contacts with persons regarding the ministry of ATCPNW and the Store component.
4. Plans, assigns, reviews and coordinates staff, volunteers, and students daily work schedule for the thrift store retail sales component.
5. Assembles data and prepares regular and periodic reports pertaining to the work and overall effectiveness and
management of the store retail sales component.
6. Opening and closing responsibilities of the store retail sales component during designated hours of operation.
7. Accounts for cash income items and deposit of revenues (cash, checks, money orders, etc.) produced from day-to-day store retail sales.
8. Preparation of job task performance evaluations for each employee, volunteer and student are required.
9. Promotes job safety among workers.
10. Works to enhance a student’s job skills and work ethic.
11. Availability and cooperativeness to assist in areas of the program as required by staff personnel.
12. All other Duties as assigned by supervisors.
Recruiting Requirements - Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:
- A working knowledge of the methods and practices of supervision and the ability to carry them out.
- A working knowledge of administrative procedures and the ability to apply those principles.
- A working knowledge of administrative record keeping procedures and accounting principles and practices.
- Considerable ability to work harmoniously with other staff personnel and supervise the work of subordinate employees.
- An ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
- Emotional maturity, Professional objectivity. the ability to act in a Christian manner.
- The ability to carry out recommendations and directives of the DL of Business Development, Area Manager, or designee.
Experience and Training:
1. High school Graduate or Equivalent
2. Business experience in retail sales, or experience that enables an individual to effectively manage, oversee and operate a store, effectively interact, work with, and supervise staff, volunteers and students participating in the store’s day to day operations.
Special Requirements: Must be currently in possession of or have the ability to obtain (within 30 days), a valid driver’s license in state of domicile.
