Position Description:
The Education Coordinator is responsible for organizing and implementing an instructional program that will provide students an atmosphere where they have the opportunity to grow intellectually, emotionally and spiritually in accordance with Adult & Teen Challenge Pacific Northwest policies and Mission.
General Statement of Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supervises and manages the Educational Component of the local center in conformance with National Teen Challenge and Adult & Teen Challenge Pacific Northwest standards.
- Works with the Program Coordinator to identify, select and modify additional instructional resources to meet the needs of students with varying backgrounds, learning styles and spiritual needs.
- Maintains effective and efficient record keeping procedures in accordance with Adult & Teen Challenge PNW and National Teen Challenge Standards.
- Models spiritual maturity and communicates biblical truth.
- Models professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, peers and community.
- Ensures the classroom environment is conducive to learning.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Center Executive Director or their designee.
This position is determined to be a ministry staff position by role and function.
Duties will include when necessary or directed: Leading prayer and Bible studies, discipling students and others, conducting evangelistic or humanitarian outreaches, and teaching religious or non-religious instruction.
Principle Duties: (Examples do not cover all duties that will be performed.)
- Implements Teen Challenge Academic Curriculum in individual and classroom settings.
- Assembles data, prepares regular and periodic reports, maintains, manages and safely stores academic program records in conformance with program policies and procedures.
- Participate with other Teen Challenge staff in formulating and effecting policy and procedure changes in the educational component of Teen Challenge.
- Participate in continuing Educational opportunities that will aid in the processes of fulfilling the duties of Educational Coordinator.
- Preparing statistical data reports as needed.
- Maintain audio/visual equipment for the classroom and recreational equipment where applicable.
- Possess good standards of personal hygiene and a clean neat appearance.
- Inventory, control, maintenance, purchasing and storage of: classroom supplies, curriculum, required program reporting forms, recreational equipment and audio visual-aids equipment.
- Supervision and management of the Educational program component and daily classroom instruction as required. Duties also include grading of papers and responsibility for classroom cleanliness.
- Scheduling of outside speakers for special educational program events.
- Approves and authorizes student mail, phone and visitation privileges for those designated contact persons outside the program.
- Develops an audio-visual library consisting of Christian related material to help guide students through the life-changing process compatible with program policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS (Education/Certifications, Skills/Abilities)
- It is recommended individuals have either a background in education, life experiences in teaching/classroom settings or personal experience in a Teen Challenge Program.
- Must have acquired at least a High School Diploma or GED;
- Have operational knowledge of the Internet and web-based technologies.
- Possess the ability to work harmoniously with other staff personnel and to supervise the work of other Teen Challenge staff.
- Possess effective communication skills, both orally and in writing with students.
Special Requirements:
1. Possession of, or ability to obtain within 30 days, a valid drivers license in State of domicile.
