Job Title: American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) - Welding Tester
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and qualified AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to serve as a Welding Tester for our Adult Education Program. This individual will be responsible for conducting welding performance tests for students, ensuring compliance with AWS standards and industry best practices. The Welding Tester will play a key role in evaluating student proficiency, verifying weld quality, and providing constructive feedback to support skill development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and oversee welding performance tests in accordance with AWS D1.1, ASME, and other relevant codes and standards.
- Evaluate welds for defects, adherence to specifications, and overall quality using visual inspection and non-destructive testing (NDT) methods.
- Provide detailed feedback to students on their welding techniques, test results, and areas for improvement.
- Maintain accurate records of test results and certifications for students who successfully pass welding performance evaluations.
- Collaborate with instructors to align testing procedures with curriculum objectives and industry expectations.
- Ensure a safe testing environment by enforcing proper PPE use and adherence to safety protocols.
- Stay up to date with industry standards, AWS code changes, and best practices in welding inspection and testing.
- Assist in developing and refining welding testing procedures to enhance student success rates.
Qualifications:
- Must hold a current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in welding inspection, testing, or a related field.
- Familiarity with AWS D1.1, ASME, API, and other applicable welding codes and standards.
- Strong knowledge of welding processes, including SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, and FCAW.
- Experience with visual inspection techniques and non-destructive testing (NDT) methods preferred.
- Excellent communication and instructional skills to provide clear feedback to students.
- Commitment to upholding safety regulations and best practices in welding environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Additional AWS certifications (e.g., CWE, SCWI) are a plus.
- Previous experience in an educational or training environment.
- Knowledge of industry-recognized welding certifications and credentialing processes.
Employment Type: Hourly $39.98/hour - approximately 3-9 hours per semester
