Instructor – Indiana Praxis Prep for Internationally Trained Educators
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated instructor to support internationally trained educators in preparing for the Indiana Praxis exam. The ideal candidate will have expertise in pedagogy, curriculum development, and standardized test preparation, with a strong understanding of the Praxis exam structure and content areas. This role requires tailoring instructional strategies to meet the unique needs of diverse adult learners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Development:
- Collaborate with the IPT Lead to create and implement a comprehensive Praxis prep curriculum aligned with the Indiana Praxis exam standards. The goal is to advance 85% of our students to pass the Praxis Subject Area by March and Praxis Core By May.
- Built in Wayne Technology to ensure all students have adequate understanding of technology such as Skyward, Canvas, Google Suite, Kahoots, etc.
- Create engaging lesson plans, practice tests, and instructional materials.
- Instruction:
- Deliver interactive and effective lessons, focusing on core Praxis content areas such as pedagogy, subject-specific knowledge, and test-taking strategies.
- Use culturally responsive teaching methods to support learners from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds.
- Learner Support:
- Assess learners’ strengths, weaknesses, and progress through diagnostic tools and formative assessments.
- Host an HR workshop with Dr. Suggs and Mr. Fessler on February 18 from 4:30 - 7:30 to review Wayne HR process and an invitation to apply for a Wayne created student teaching experience per MOUfirst year teacher pay at $52,000. The application is competitive and available based on openings and student professionalism.
- Provide individualized feedback, coaching, and additional resources to enhance learning outcomes.
- Professional Development:
- Stay up-to-date with Praxis exam changes, Indiana educational standards, and adult learning best practices.
- Adapt teaching methodologies to incorporate innovative and effective instructional strategies.
- Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and performance.
- Prepare reports and updates for stakeholders as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Mathematics, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Teaching certification (Indiana preferred) and familiarity with Praxis requirements.
- Experience teaching adult learners or preparing candidates for standardized exams.
- Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.
- Ability to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working with internationally trained educators or multilingual learners.
- Knowledge of educational practices across diverse countries.
