What are the responsibilities and job description for the DSP position at Adult Care Home?
Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated DSP to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support in various areas of need and care to Adults with Developmental Disabilities, ensuring their safety, well-being, deal with various interdisciplinary team members including but not limited to the forensics. The DSP will work closely with clients to enhance their quality of life through various forms of assistance, including home care, and community engagement.
Responsibilities just to name a few:
- Provide personal care assistance including bathing, grooming, and dressing.
- Administer medications as prescribed and monitor clients for side effects.
- Assist individuals with mobility and transfers, utilizing proper lifting techniques.
- Support clients with daily living activities such as meal preparation, housekeeping, and shopping.
- Implement care plans tailored to individual needs, including those related to dementia care and hospice care.
- Monitor vital signs and report any changes in health status to the appropriate personnel.
- Uphold resident rights by ensuring privacy, dignity, and respect in all interactions.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the client’s quality of life.
- Maintain accurate documentation of services provided and client progress.
Requirements
- Previous experience in home care or a similar caregiving role is preferred.
- Knowledge of medication administration protocols and vital sign monitoring.
- Experience working with individuals with Developmental Disabilities/Mental Health, Forensics, familiar with behavior management a plus!
- Ability to perform first aid when necessary and respond appropriately in emergencies.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and team members.
- Compassionate demeanor with a genuine desire to help others.
- Must be able to lift clients safely using proper techniques.
- A valid driver’s license may be required
