What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adult Day Center Driver position at Adult Day Center?
SUMMARY: The Driver is responsible for driving program participants in the van or other school vehicles over specified routes and according to a specified schedule.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assiged.
Perform and record the routine inspection of vehicles for preventive maintenance, including mileage, fuel usage, and other relevant data.
Follow established schedules and routes.
Responsible for ensuring the vehicle is clean and presentable.
Comply with all federal and state transportation regulations.
Employee will assist passengers into and out of vehicles and secure passengers in their seats using seatbelts and/or other stabilizing devices.
Will report any malfunctions of vehicle and/or maintenance issues to Program Director in a timely manner in order for proper repairs and/or maintenance to be completed.
Must ensure compliance with HIPAA and other state regulations.
Responsible for opening up and closing school building, activate and disarm security alarm.
Attend all staff meetings and/or staff training as necessary.

- Must possess a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record. Ability to obtain CDL.
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Ability to interact with older individuals that may have a variety of special needs and help maintain the person's dignity.
- Must be able to follow directions and carry a task or project to completion.
- Must be a friendly, caring, and accepting individual with an outgoing personality.
- Must possess skills conducive to open communication and development of rapport with participants, staff, students, volunteers, and family members.
- Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
- Willing to obtain CPR and First Aid certifications.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical and mental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is required to sit, walk, bend, stoop, squat, twist, and reach while performing the duties of this job; The employee uses their hands to feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with arms and hands; The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; Employee assists with the transferring of participants from a wheel chair to seat of vehicles; Employee will assist participants on and off vehicles; and The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 lbs., frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs., and occasionally help lift and/or help move more than 100 lbs.
LANGUAGE AND REASONING SKILLS: Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, and short correspondence; Ability to effectively and tactfully present information in one-on-one and small group situations; Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions; and Ability to handle problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and occasionally exposed to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
