What are the responsibilities and job description for the High School Math Teacher - Alternative Education position at Adult Learning Center?
We are seeking a passionate and adaptable Math Teacher to join our alternative high school team at Clearway High School. Our ideal candidate is dedicated to meeting the unique academic and social-emotional needs of students, including those with IEPs and diverse learning challenges. This role requires innovative teaching, strong differentiation skills, and a commitment to equity in education.
Specific Responsibilities
· Design and deliver engaging math instruction aligned with state standards, emphasizing individualized learning and real-world application.
· Develop and implement accommodations, modifications, and personalized strategies to support all students and support their diverse learning styles.
· Collaborate with special education staff and counselors to create and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
· Work with school leadership to use data-driven decision-making and formative assessments to track progress and adjust instruction to meet academic goals.
· Develop and ensure a safe, inclusive classroom culture that supports social-emotional growth and fosters resilience and self-advocacy.
· Employ trauma-informed practices and restorative approaches to build positive relationships and classroom management strategies.
· Maintain required educational certification and attend staff training.
· Develop and implement lesson plans which align with common core academic standards in math.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Education, or a related field.
· Valid teaching certification in secondary math and/or special education.
· Experience working with at-risk youth, students with disabilities, or in alternative education setting preferred.
· Ability to differentiate classroom instruction and create an inclusive learning environment
Clearway High School is a program of the nonprofit organization, the Nashua Adult Learning Center, Inc. and is honored to provide the following support services:
· Access to the ALC Human Resources Director on campus weekly to ensure a positive work experience.
· Professional mentoring and classroom instruction coaching are available to all teachers.
· Translation support and services. *subject to availability
· Schedule: 32 hour work week in accordance with the Clearway High School calendar.
