Position Qualifications:
- High school graduate
- Valid Medical Assistant certification as required by the State of Florida
- 2 years experience as a medical assistant within a medical clinic setting
- Demonstration of appropriate clinical skills
- Must possess strong interpersonal, organizational and computer skills
Summary
This position works directly with APRN-Diabetes Specialists. This position also works closely with other APRNs, physicians, medical assistants and supervisory personnel within the clinic to ensure continuity of care for the clinic’s patients with diabetes.
Basic Functions: Within Adult Medicine of Lake County, the diabetes medical assistant (MA) for the Diabetes Comprehensive Program duties include but not limited to:
- Preparing the exam room between patients including cleaning and stocking the room
- Ensuring reports are downloaded from CGMS (Dexcom or Freestyle libre) at time of visit
- Ensuring insulin pumps ( tandem and Omnipod 5 insulin pumps) are downloaded if applicable at time of visit
- Performing vital signs including fingerstick blood sugars if the pt is not on a CGMS and checking/updating pt medication record
- Insuring CGMS data are accessible via Clarity for Dexcom and Libre View for the Libre devices
- Insuring CGMS patient data is placed in ECW chart on day of pt visit
- Hooking up diagnostic Dexcom sensor when ordered and teaching pt what is involved in wearing the device for 10 or 14 days
- Training patient on how to use CGMS on a daily basis and how to replace a CGMS sensor when expired
- Troubleshooting technical issues that interfere with the ability to download blood glucose data from CGMS and fixing the issues
- Maintain supplies such as skin tac,unisolve prep and 3M dressing
- Executing CGMS device orders which may include:
- placing initial order for device through parachute which determines where to send order based on the pt’s insurance
- managing all renewal DME orders for CGMS sensors
Acts as a liaison between pharmaceutical/ technology representatives and the APRN-Diabetes Specialist to ensure the AMLC clinic is well stocked with injectables, insulin pump and CGMS supplies.

Pay: $17.00 - $24.00 per hour
