What are the responsibilities and job description for the DSP (Direct Support Professional) position at Adult Residential Solution, LLC?
SUMMARY: Works as a direct care staff in a group home setting with male and female individuals with developmental disabilities. Provides as normal a homelike atmosphere within a semi-structured community setting and supports each adult in the areas of personal and social growth and development.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Includes the essential or most important functions and responsibilities. Essential duties are those that must be performed as part of the job.
- Assists in planning a meaningful developmental schedule for each individual that maximizes his/her potential from a personal, educational, and social viewpoint.
- Assists in maintaining accurate daily records of individual client progress and develops comprehensive goal plans for each resident.
- Maintains on-going contact with parents and significant others as to the general well-being of each individual in the program.
- Supervises the individuals in preparing for bed and arising in the morning.
- Administers medications to individuals after successful completion of required trainings.
- Assists with transporting individuals to and from day programs, health appointments, and/or activities that may be necessary.
- Assists in all household duties such as cleaning, general food preparation, sewing and care of linen and furnishings.
- Assists in the general maintenance and repair normally encountered in the residence, grounds, and equipment (e.g. snow removal, cutting the lawn, painting, and other fix-it jobs).
- Assists in the daily maintenance of the company vehicle.
- Checks doors, windows, locks, fire alarm and extinguishers, and other security and safety measures on an on-going basis.
- Assists in supervising individuals in their work, recreation, and other activities.
- Remains awake as shift determines in order to monitor the home and ensure the safety and well-being of the individuals.
- Assists individuals with personal care and hygiene.
- Attend required training and staff meetings as needed.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Does not lead, supervise, or manage others on an ongoing basis.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); no prior experience needed; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and in small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS (required for the job):
Current Drivers License, Medication Administration Certification, Safe Crisis Management Certification, & First Aid & CPR
