HUMAN RESOURCE GENERALIST
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist for our non- union manufacturing company in Canton, MI. Full time. Days.
The ideal candidate will have previous HR experience with success working in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Update and maintain ADP system regarding pay changes, transfers, promotions, and status changes for employees in two locations
- Assist staff with questions regarding payroll, benefits, employee records, and other requests
- Create reports using MS Excel; employee lists, turnover, payroll data, attendance tracking, overtime
- Conduct new hire orientation and process new hire paperwork
- Handle monthly administration of benefits processing; enrollments, changes, terminations
- Administer employee FMLA leave
- Report and administer workmen’s compensation claims
- Respond to unemployment claims
- Support recruiting efforts including posting job ads, scanning resumes/applications, phone and in-person interviews, and preparing offer letters
- Complete background checks and coordinate drug screens
- Maintain confidential employee files
- Respond to inquiries to verify employee income/employment
- Coordinate and manage the performance appraisal process
- Provide employee relations support; help resolve a wide variety of issues
- Handle special projects as directed, including research and gathering data on various topics
- Coordinate staffing with temp agencies as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in HR related field or equivalent experience
- Previous experience working in a HR department
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now or other payroll systems preferred
- Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to appropriately and discreetly handle confidential information
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Independent judgment to plan, prioritize and execute diverse workload
HUMAN RESOURCE GENERALIST
- Strong project management skills and an ability to multi-task is required
- Ability to apply effective time management and self-management skills in a busy work environment; ability to meet deadlines despite regular interruptions
- Experience with Plex ERP system preferred
Qualified candidates will meet the requirements of a pre-placement physical exam, drug screen, and criminal background check.
