Description

Job Summary:

The Supervising Behavior Consultant utilizes discretion and independent judgment in carrying out job duties and goals of the organization.

 

The Supervising Behavior Consultant trains and oversees multiple BCBA and Mid-Level Behavior Consultants  while they develop, deliver, and monitor individualized behavior programs of early intervention treatment for children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) with the goal of a more effective and improved quality of life for each individual.

 

The Supervising Behavior Consultant ensures appropriate collaboration is occurring between all members of the child’s treatment team with emphasis on parent and care giver participation on a regular basis. They are responsible for the performance of their staff and each program’s overall progress.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Supervises BCBA and Mid-Level behavior consultants, lead RBTs, and behavior techs. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include assessing the needs of consultants; providing ongoing feedback to consultants, lead RBTs, and behavior techs; providing necessary input consultants require in order to provide quality individualized behavior programs; troubleshoots consultant’s weaknesses and provides one on one teaching to increase their knowledge and abilities; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Conducts meetings with consultant. Observes and oversees direct visits to client with and without consultant to ensure quality of program.
  • Provides clients with on-site supervision in order to monitor therapy teams to insure client success.
  • Continuously oversee consultants and child’s progress and troubleshoot to create the most effective treatment plan for the team.
  • Serve as a member of IEP & PTM team and provide objectives, behavior intervention plans, and recommendations for comprehensive goals for their clients to be implemented at center and home.
  • Monitor the consultant’s ability to follow curriculum, review the learning trees, review data, and observe program implementation.
  • Asses concerns and observations of consultants and care providers (i.e., teachers and/or parents), revise curriculum, interface with adjunctive service providers and other professionals, and also interface with representatives from insurance companies and other agencies.
  • Approves treatment plans for quality content and professional language.
  • Attends conferences and client home and/or insurance meetings.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client
  • Conducts department trainings.

Supervision:

Prior supervisory experience is required. The Supervising Behavior Consultant is required to provide leadership, direction, and supervision to two or more behavior consultants, lead paraprofessionals, and paraprofessionals

Education and/or Experience:

Minimum of a Master’s degree in a related field and BCBA certification.  A minimum of two years  in Applied Behavior Analysis experience with children with ASD and other development disabilities.

Physical Demands:

Ability to run, stand, sit, stoop, crawl, kneel, reach, push, and lift a child weighing 50 pounds; normal visual, vocal & hearing acuity; use of a computer; ability to travel via automobile.

Background Checks and/or Licensing:

Must be able to pass criminal background check; reference checks; provide a negative TB test; education verification; current driver’s license and proof of valid auto insurance.

Other Requirements:

Must have reliable means of transportation; availability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week; and have access to a computer with knowledge of internet, e-mail and Microsoft Office applications.
