We want someone who can meet tight deadlines and tackle a variety of stories, from breaking news and quick-hit dailies to more nuanced stories that illuminate issues, add context to current events or keep watch on public officials.
We’re looking for someone with at least one year experience at a daily news outlet but will consider talented recent graduates.
This position pays between $42,000 to $45,000 annually.

- SEO skills and a good sense of what topics will draw audience.
- Curiosity about multiple coverage areas, from local government to education or health care.
- The ability to find fresh angles, focus stories on people, and present voices that connect with our readers.
- Ability to tell stories in a variety of mediums, such as photo, video and audio.
- Degree in journalism, communications or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experienced.
- Familiarity with social media, including how to use it to develop sources.
- Clear, conversational writing that engages readers and shows them how issues and events affect them
- Ability to work a flexible schedule - weekends and evenings are a must
