Mental Health Office in Naperville is looking for an Insurance Specialist to join our team.
Work closely with the Insurance Department while performing all components in the Insurance Verification / Authorization process for existing and new patients as well as working closely with all staff. Support the vision and mission of Advanced Behavioral Health Services through providing excellent customer service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Verifying Insurance coverage - Confirming patients' insurance details, including eligibility, coverage limits, and any pre-authorization requirements for services.
- Pre-authorization and Pre-certification - Obtaining approvals from insurance companies for specific procedures, treatments, or medications when required.
- Patient Communication - Informing patients about their insurance benefits, out-of-pocket costs, and any potentials issues related to coverage.
- Updating records - Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient insurance information in the database.
- Coordinating with Providers and staff - Collaborating with providers and administrative staff to ensure all required information is gathered for insurance processing.
- Resolving coverage issues - Addressing and troubleshooting any discrepancies or denials related to insurance claims.
- Billing Support - Assisting the billing department in ensuring claims are submitted accurately and following up on unpaid or denied claims.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English.
- Associates or Bachelor's degree level of education preferred.
- At least 2 years experience working in insurance verification department of medical offices.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Detail oriented and ability to work independently.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Ability to operate a computer, learn new types of software and systems.
- Ability to use the telephone to place and receive calls, and use fax to send or receive documents.
- Proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook required.
- Experience with various payer types including: commercial, governmental, Medicare, Medicaid, HMO, etc. and the ability to cross-over into different payers.
- Understanding of co-pay, coinsurance, deductibles and other insurance benefits.
