Pay Range:
$19.20 - $26.40Pay: $20 hour
All internship positions are designed to give college students an opportunity to apply techniques learned in an academic setting while obtaining new skills. This is a paid internship offering full-time hours during the summer months. All interns are required to conclude the program by giving a formal presentation on their work. Please note that no relocation assistance or sponsorship is provided for the internship program at this time.
Position Summary:
The successful PAS Intern will use our core RNAscope® technology to determine RNA expression levels of various existing tissue samples from our inventory. This involves operating and maintaining microtome equipment to section tissues onto microscope slides, as well as utilizing Leica Bond stainers and chromogenic/fluorescent scanners to determine the resulting RNA expression levels. The PAS Intern will update our database to document all stages of experimental progress and results as well as assist in organizing samples to be returned to our clients. The PAS Intern also follows all safety, environmental, and infection prevention policies and complies with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance and use of the microtome to generate FFPE slide sections
Operation of Leica Bond stainer and appropriate scanner to analyze resulting RNA expression
Hematoxylin and eosin staining of tissue slides
Clear and thorough documentation of progress and data
Organize deliverables to be returned to clients
Program Requirements:
Must be a currently enrolled student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in a field relevant to the internship
Must have completed (at minimum) the sophomore year of college
Must be able to work full-time during the duration of the internship program
Experience Qualifications:
Minimum one (1) year laboratory experience is required
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to lift 10-15lbs daily
Ability to stand for long periods of time
