What are the responsibilities and job description for the Class A Driver - OTR position at Advanced Chemical Transport LLC?
Job Summary
This position will support operations for ACTEnviro by conducting environmental services and collections while observing safety protocols (proACTive).
Accountabilities
To be successful as an OTR Driver, you should be knowledgeable of DOT safety regulations and be able to adhere to all company policies and procedures regarding safe driving. This includes:
- Be proACTive by safely transporting dangerous goods between various locations over long distances
- Maintaining e-logs and perform truck inspections before and after each trip to ensure that all mechanical systems are in good working order – ACT is very proud of our CSA score and it is our Drivers we thank for this effort!
- Assist in the loading and unloading, ensure a proper load count and ensure load is secured
- Inspect shipping documents (manifests, bills of lading) and ensure placards are displayed properly
- Observe and comply with all traffic regulations – federal, state and local
- Communicate with supervisor, clients, and vendors regarding arrival time
- Ensure that assigned vehicle is always clean and organized.
Experience and Background
- Class A Commercial License with 3 years driving experience
- At least two years verifiable driving experience
- No more than 2 driving violations for the past three years
- No more than 2 preventable accidents in the past three years
- Hazmat and tanker endorsement (or able to obtain endorsements upon hire).
- 24 Hour HAZWOPER required (provided upon hire)
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Documented written test and road test by a qualified ACT employee
- Satisfactory DOT physical exam including respirator fit test
- Pre-employment and periodic substance abuse tests
Education/Experience
- High school education or equivalent
- Experience in the hazardous materials/waste industry preferred
