The job is located in Fremont
The schedule is 6 am – 2:30 pm M-F plus rotating Weekend (Sat. or Sun)/ Holiday inspection for (< 4 hrs.).
Job Summary
This position will support on-site operations for ACTEnviro by conducting environmental services and collections while observing safety protocols (proACTive).
Accountabilities
- Pickup, inspect, containerize, and consolidate various chemicals/wastes, including bio-hazardous materials for off-site shipment.
- Assist with loading and shipping hazardous waste, including biological waste.
- Inspect hazardous waste storage and collection areas with documentation.
- Label and organize containers in compliance with all regulations.
- Wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE as required at all times).
- Responds to emergency situations when called upon, 24/7 potential response availability.
- Clean equipment/facility as directed by client or management.
- Inspect eye washes and safety showers weekly with documentation.
- Attend and maintain all required training necessary to perform job.
- Perform safe work practices involving chemical
- Availability to work weekends and extended hours as needed.
- Maintain Stormwater drains through inspection and cleaning as required by process
Knowledge, Skills and Ability
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English to the degree necessary to perform the job
- Must be able to access and be comfortable with working in a variety of conditions outside to include confined spaces, damp, and/or dusty locations, freezing conditions and hot conditions. This includes wearing Tyvek and cleanroom body suit protection.
- Must be able to physically perform the essential duties of the position which include lifting up to 50 lbs., stooping, kneeling, climbing ladders, crouching, reaching, use hands to finger, balancing, walking, standing, talk and hear; Able to work with process chemicals.
- Have adequate respiratory functions to utilize a Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus and full face cartridge respirator.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness/Ability to drive a class B/C truck (get endorsement) and have 3 years clean driving record (a Plus).
- Knowledge of the hazardous waste industry, (a plus)
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively individually and with a team.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background screen, physical, and drug-screen
Education/Experience
- High school education or equivalent
- Experience in the hazardous materials/waste industry (preferred)
- Successfully completed HAZWOPER 40 hour (must have copies if certified)(a plus)
