What are the responsibilities and job description for the TSDF - Lab-Pack Chemist position at Advanced Chemical Transport LLC?
Summary
The TSDF Lab-Pack Chemist supports the TSDF lab-pack, loose-pack, and special materials programs under the direction of the TSDF Technical Manager.
Accountabilities
- Understand, accept, and support ACT’s core values and safety/compliance programs
- Ensure SOPs and safety protocols are adhered to for all plant and waste transportation activities
- Safe work practices for hazardous and non-hazardous waste management and chemical guidance
- Consolidation of chemical waste for storage, transportation and disposal
- Lab-Pack chemical segregation based on compliance, final TSDF approval and economic efficiency
- Ability to chemically segregate and pack Loose-Packs for bulk consolidation
- Resolve off-spec material re-classification, consolidation, and billing
- Sorting, staging and labelling containers for outbound loads based on final disposition
- Ensure TSDF is always audit ready
- Safe and efficient operation of a forklift
- Receiving of all waste materials (inspecting, offloading, weighing, labeling, and storing for Regulatory and TSDF Compliance)
- Ensure inbound waste meets approved profile specifications (QA/QC).
- Always maintain an accurate “operating record” of wastes on-hand
- Ensure good housekeeping practices
- Attends and maintains all required training necessary to perform job
- Responds to emergency situations when called upon
- Other duties as assigned by Management
Knowledge, Skills and Ability
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Strong leadership, and organizational skills to direct and achieve goals with limited supervision
- Excellent verbal, written, listening, persuasion and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Chemical nomenclature, properties and hazard classification knowledgeable a must
- Documentation and reporting skills
- A strong work ethic and positive, supportive attitude
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and manage details and be consistently present at work
- Ability to work extended hours when needed
- Ability to work in Level B PPE (respirator) for extended periods
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and other physical job tasks throughout the day
Education/Experience
- 2 plus years of technical lab-packing experience
- Associates or higher college degree in environmental, chemical and/or life sciences or additional equivalent lab-packing experience with a high emphasis on chemical properties
