What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wastewater Treatment Operator position at Advanced Chemical Transport LLC?
Night shift is based on a 3 / 4 schedule of 3 days one week and 4 days the second week. Hours are 6 pm to 6:29 am (12 hr. shift).
The Environmental Wastewater Operator will work with the following equipment: Acid Waste Neutralization (AWN), Fluoride (F) Treatments system, Mixed Metals Treatment System, pH/F meters, equalization systems, pumps, mixers, bag filters, filter press, clarifier, sand filter, and other waste treatment equipment (possibly resin columns, regeneration system). An Environmental Wastewater Technician has the responsibility of operating the waste treatment system under routine and non-routine conditions. Will work with hazardous chemicals/waste while performing daily job duties.
Wastewater Operators will undergo Chemical Handling training prior to the start of performing these duties and will actively participate in ongoing hazardous waste and chemical handling training. Must be available for 24/7 emergency response to spills associated with these systems.
Accountabilities
- Execute required chemistry tests, log and report data, and maintain product inventories
- Operate all environmental and wastewater equipment
- Maintain process equipment by replacement pumps, filters, and mixers, empty the filter press, and transfer cake to containers for disposal
- Complete metal precipitation/treatment and monitor wastewater effluent by sampling and analysis
- Keep accurate records of all process equipment, analysis, and logs
- Utilize handheld monitoring equipment, (pH probes, TDS probes, metal analyzers, etc.)
- Clean and backwash the wastewater system. Maintain a safe, neat, and orderly workplace. Follow all safety measures when handling chemicals and hazardous waste with regard to use, mixing and disposing chemicals
- Perform Daily/weekly/monthly Inspections as necessary and document results
Knowledge, Skills and Ability
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English to the degree necessary to perform the job
- Must be able to access and be comfortable with working in a variety of conditions outside to include confined spaces, damp, and/or dusty locations, freezing conditions and hot conditions
- Must be able to physically perform the essential duties of the position which include lifting up to 50 lbs., stooping, kneeling, climbing ladders, crouching, reaching, use hands to finger, balancing, walking, standing, talk and hear; Able to work with process chemicals
- Have adequate respiratory functions to utilize a Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus
- Possess a valid driver’s license
- Ability to drive a forklift or be certified within 90 days
- Ability to work extend hours on an Alternative Work Schedule (10–12-hour shifts)
- Ability to pass a drug screen and physical exam
Education and Experience
- Previous experience in wastewater treatment
- High school diploma or equivalent
