OVERVIEW:
The objective of the Floor Technician is to ensure the cleanliness of facility floors, adhering to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This role focuses on the detailed maintenance of floors, including tasks such as stripping and waxing, buffing, spot carpet extraction, upholstery cleaning, and removing scuff marks. The Floor Technician will ensure that all work is performed to the highest level of cleanliness, aesthetics, and safety, adhering to the client’s exacting standards. The ideal candidate will possess technical expertise in floor care, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining a pristine environment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven experience in floor care, including expertise in stripping and waxing, buffing, carpet extraction, and upholstery cleaning.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in English.
- Experience working in high-standard environments, preferably white glove settings.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts as necessary.
- Ability to operate specialized floor care equipment such as buffers, extractors, and waxing machines.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a clean, well-kept facility.
- Basic computer skills for logging work and submitting reports.
- Physically capable of lifting heavy equipment and working in demanding environments.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Floor Stripping and Waxing: Perform regular stripping and waxing of hard floors to ensure a high-gloss, immaculate finish. Follow precise application methods to guarantee a uniform appearance and long-lasting durability.
- Buffing: Regularly buff floors to maintain shine and polish, ensuring that all areas are free of scuffs, scratches, and dullness. Utilize specialized equipment to enhance the appearance of floors and reduce wear.
- Grout Cleaning: Regularly buff grout using the appropriate chemical to remove built up within shower, bathroom and other walkable tile settings.
- Spot Carpet Extraction: Conduct spot treatments on carpets to remove stains and high-traffic dirt. Use extraction machines and appropriate cleaning agents to ensure that carpets are clean, sanitized, and well-maintained.
- Upholstery Extraction: Clean upholstered furniture in designated areas by using extraction methods to remove dirt, grime, and stains, maintaining the appearance and longevity of fabric surfaces.
- Scuff Mark Removal: Identify and address scuff marks and other surface imperfections on floors and walls, ensuring they are removed without damaging underlying surfaces.
- Daily Maintenance Checks: Perform regular inspections of all floor areas, proactively identifying and addressing any issues such as spills, damage, or worn surfaces.
- Equipment Care and Maintenance: Ensure that all cleaning equipment is properly maintained, cleaned, and serviced to operate at peak performance. Report any malfunctioning equipment to supervisors promptly.
ESSENTIAL SAFETY:
- Follow all safety protocols when working with cleaning chemicals, floor care equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety shoes, gloves, and eye protection.
- Use proper lifting techniques when handling heavy equipment or materials to prevent injury.
- Be mindful of wet or slick floor surfaces, ensuring warning signs are posted to alert others to potential hazards.
- Report any safety concerns or hazards to management immediately and participate in safety training sessions as required.
OTHER JOB DUTIES
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and clients to ensure that all tasks are completed on time and to the expected standard.
- Participate in client quality walkthroughs to assess the condition of floors and furniture, ensuring that any concerns or areas needing improvement are addressed promptly.
- Assist with any additional cleaning or maintenance tasks as needed to support the overall cleanliness and upkeep of the facility.
- Perform custodial cleaning and remove trash as needed.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.75 - $18.50 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
