Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Biller to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the billing process, ensuring accurate coding, and maintaining medical records. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology and coding systems, including ICD-10 and DRG, to facilitate timely and accurate billing for services rendered.
Duties
- Process and submit medical claims to insurance companies in a timely manner.
- Review patient records for accuracy and completeness before billing.
- Utilize coding systems such as ICD-10 to assign appropriate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
- Follow up on unpaid claims and resolve any discrepancies with insurance providers.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical billing regulations and compliance standards.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance companies regarding billing inquiries.
- Ensure that all medical records are accurately documented and maintained in accordance with privacy regulations.
- Assist with medical collections as necessary to recover outstanding payments.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical billing or a similar role within a medical office environment.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding (ICD-10), and billing systems.
- Familiarity with DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) coding is preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and billing software.
- Certification in medical billing or coding is a plus but not required.
