Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Financial Aid Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting students and families with the financial aid process, ensuring that all necessary tax information, forms, and documentation are submitted accurately and on time. This role involves data entry, processing FAFSA, CSS Profile, IDOC, and institutional forms, as well as providing exceptional customer service via phone and office communication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tax Information Collection: Gather and review financial documents, including tax returns, W-2s, and other supporting financial documents, to process student financial aid applications.
- Data Entry: Accurately input and update financial aid data into the system, ensuring all records are maintained with high attention to detail and integrity.
- FAFSA, CSS Profile & IDOC Submission: Assist families in completing and submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), CSS Profile, IDOC (Institutional Documentation Service), and any institutional forms necessary for financial aid consideration.
- Office Assistance: Provide general office support, including organizing and maintaining financial aid files, responding to emails, and assisting in the preparation of correspondence and reports.
- Customer Service: Answer phone calls and emails promptly, providing clear, accurate, and helpful information to students, parents, and staff regarding financial aid processes, eligibility, and documentation requirements.
- Communication: Maintain effective communication with students and families throughout the financial aid process, answering questions, providing updates, and ensuring a positive experience.
- Deadline Management: Monitor and track deadlines for financial aid applications and required documentation, and ensuring timely submission.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's Degree Required
- Experience: At least 1-2 years of experience in financial aid or a similar office setting, including experience with tax document collection, data entry, and customer service.
- Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
