What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Development Manager position at Advanced Concepts Enterprises Inc?
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager with extensive experience in supporting Department of Defense (DoD) contractors. Authoring proposals will be a primary function of this role, requiring expertise in crafting compelling, compliant, and competitive proposals to secure contracts. The ideal candidate will also play a pivotal role in driving growth by identifying new business opportunities, fostering strategic partnerships, and leading multi-level review processes (including white team, red team, pink team, and gold team reviews), with a strong foundation in marketing to effectively position our capabilities in a competitive market.
Our company specializes in delivering critical services to the DoD, including engineering support, command and control instruction, explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) training, special operations skills (encompassing both ground skills and aircraft crew member training), as well as administrative support, role player functions, and other engineering and operational services. If you are a strategic thinker with a passion for excellence and a commitment to supporting national defense, we want you on our team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Business Development Strategy: Identify and pursue new business opportunities with DoD contractors, government agencies, and prime contractors. Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of potential contracts and partnerships.
- Proposal Leadership: Lead the end-to-end process of creating compelling, compliant, and competitive proposals. Ensure proposals align with client requirements, highlight our unique value proposition, and position our company as the preferred choice.
- Multi-Level Review Expertise: Oversee and manage rigorous proposal review cycles, including white team (compliance and content review), red team (competitive analysis and refinement), pink team (editorial and readability improvements), and gold team (final polish and submission readiness) reviews. Drive collaboration across teams to ensure high-quality deliverables and adherence to deadlines.
- Marketing and Branding: Leverage marketing skills to promote our services, create targeted collateral, and enhance our brand visibility within the DoD community. Develop case studies, capability statements, and presentations that showcase our expertise in engineering support, command and control, EOD, special operations, and other critical areas.
- Client Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, prime contractors, and DoD personnel. Attend industry events, conferences, and meetings to network and represent the company.
- Market Analysis: Conduct research on market trends, competitor activities, and DoD priorities to inform business development strategies and ensure our offerings remain cutting-edge and relevant.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with subject matter experts, technical teams, and executive leadership to gather inputs, align on strategies, and deliver solutions that meet client needs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in business development, preferably within the DoD contracting sector or related government services industries.
- Proven success in securing contracts through effective proposal writing and multi-level review processes (white team, pink team, red team, gold team).
- Strong understanding of DoD procurement processes, FAR/DFAR regulations, and contract vehicles.
- Excellent marketing and communication skills, with the ability to craft persuasive narratives and branding materials.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, meet tight deadlines, and lead cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of and experience with services such as engineering support, command and control instruction, EOD training, special operations (ground and aircraft crew member training), and administrative/role player functions is highly desirable.
- Active security clearance or the ability to obtain one is preferred.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a results-oriented mindset.
