We are seeking an Operations Planner for USCENTCOM AOR. All personnel shall be capable of working independently, demonstrating strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- This position is located at Shaw Air Force Base, SC. This will require 100% on-site support due to clearance requirements.
- Required ACTIVE Top Secret/SCI clearance with recent adjudication meeting SAP eligibility standards.
This important role will support United States Air Forces Central (USAFCENT) in operational planning, special technical operations, and logistics planning within the United States Central Command (USCENTCOM) Area of Responsibility (AOR). The selected candidates will play a key role in supporting USAFCENT's mission by developing and executing operational plans, conducting contingency planning, and integrating specialized capabilities into Air Force operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support USAFCENT’s operational and strategic planning efforts in alignment with JOPES standards.
- Coordinate planning efforts with Service components, higher headquarters (HHQ), and coalition partners.
- Assist in Global Force Management for forces within the USCENTCOM AOR.
- Provide briefings to senior leadership on operational planning issues and exercise objectives.
- Develop contingency plans, support STRAT/TET/MAAP processes, and assist in Time-Phased Force Deployment Document (TPFDD) planning.
- Support CJCS, Combatant Command (COCOM), and USAFCENT exercises by developing exercise scenarios, objectives, and after-action reports.
- Serve as an expert advisor for joint and coalition integration into Command and Control (C2) operations.
Qualifications:
- Experience supporting deliberate and crisis response planning for force deployment.
- Familiarity with USCENTCOM, USAFCENT, and joint service operational planning.
- Strong understanding of basing, force flow, and integration of airpower in joint operations.
- Ability to manage long-range exercise planning and coordinate across HHQ and host nation partners.
Requirements:
- Must possess an active Top Secret/SCI clearance with recent adjudication meeting SAP eligibility standards.
- Must have had a favorable clearance adjudication within the past 12 months and be subject to a random CI-scope polygraph.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Exceptional customer service and organizational skills.
- Experience in numbered Air Force, component command staff, or higher-level headquarters (or equivalent service experience).
- Must be capable of deploying CONUS and OCONUS as required.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in high-pressure environments.
- Strong time management and prioritization skills.
Work Location & Schedule:
- Location: Onsite (no telework) – United States Air Forces Central (USAFCENT), Shaw AFB, SC.
- Duty Hours: Monday – Friday, 0730-1700 (subject to mission requirements).
- Personnel may be required to work beyond a 40-hour workweek but shall not exceed an 80-hour two-week period without approval.
- Travel may be required both CONUS and OCONUS.
