ADV will provide personnel security support services for the Naval Reactors (NR) Personnel Security Office (PSO) within the Department of Energy (DOE). This mission-critical effort ensures the protection and processing of security clearances for personnel supporting the Nuclear Navy. The Personnel Security Office (PSO) manages security clearance programs for over 18,000 contractors and federal employees, ensuring compliance with DOE regulations, policies, and safeguards.
Location: Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory (KAPL), 2401 River Rd, Niskayuna, NY 12309.
Clearance Required: DOE - Q (Secret RD)
Personnel security services are performed at Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory (KAPL) during the following hours:
- Onsite Only , All work must be performed onsite at KAPL due to security requirements
- Monday – Friday: 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (core hours), Vault Operations: 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
We are seeking Security Assistants for this effort!
Responsibilities:
- Support security clearance processing, including initial clearances, reinvestigations, and adjudications.
- Maintain and update Personnel Security Files (PSFs).
- Process incident/information reports, terminations, and clearance requests.
- Manage and respond to NR Personnel Security Help Desk inquiries.
- Prepare, process, and transmit security documents including:
- Clearance request forms
- Security questionnaires
- Fingerprint charts
- Foreign residence/interest questionnaires
- Support the administrative review (AR) process for security determinations under 10 CFR 710.
- Conduct document control and records management following DOE guidelines.
- Assist in vault operations, including the secure handling of classified materials.
- Perform additional administrative duties as required to support NR personnel security operations.
Qualifications:
- Active DOE Q (Secret RD) Clearance required.
- Prior experience in security clearance processing, records management, or administrative support within a federal agency or contractor environment.
- Proficiency in NBIS eAPP, JPAS/DISS, or similar personnel security systems.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive and classified information.
- Experience working with Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD)-12 compliance.
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume security processing environment (handling 14,500 – 18,000 actions per year).
The annual salary range for this position is $62,500 – $71,000, which aligns with the salary band for this job classification. Compensation decisions are based on various factors, including but not limited to skill set, experience, training, security clearances, licensure, certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
