Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmology Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting ophthalmologists in providing high-quality eye care to our patients. You will perform various clinical tasks, ensuring a smooth workflow within the clinic while maintaining a patient-centered approach. The ideal candidate will have experience in a medical office setting, particularly in ophthalmology or related fields.
Responsibilities
- Conduct preliminary eye exams and gather patient medical histories.
- Assist with diagnostic tests and procedures, including visual acuity tests, tonometry, and retinal imaging.
- Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures and ensuring their comfort.
- Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Handle front desk duties such as scheduling appointments and managing patient flow.
- Educate patients on post-operative care and proper use of prescribed medications or eyewear.
- Collaborate with the ophthalmology team to ensure efficient clinic operations.
- Support retail sales of eyewear and contact lenses, utilizing retail math skills as needed.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a medical office or clinic setting is required; experience in ophthalmology is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical coding and billing practices is a plus.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and team members.
- Basic understanding of physiology related to eye care.
- Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Proficiency in front desk operations is beneficial.
